Photography, Video and Coverage by Luis Diaz
On Saturday, November 11, 2017 hundreds of veterans, present day military members, politicians, notable guests and members of the media congregated at Madison Square Park (at 23rd street and Fifth avenue) for the memorial ceremony; followed by the 99th annual NYC Veteran’s Day Parade.
On hand at the ceremony was American hero and astronaut, Buzz Aldrin who also served as the 2017 parade’s grand marshal; NYC Mayor, Bill de Blasio; American Vietnam War veteran and Medal of Honor recipient, Paul William Bucha; United States Air Force General, Ellen Pawlikowski who is the highest ranking woman in the Air Force. Aside from speeches and remarks given, an opening prayer, taps and a 21-gun salute there was, as well, a wreath-laying.
The ensuing parade which featured roughly 40,000 participants took off from 26th street and fifth avenue and traveled up to 53rd street. Yours truly was fortunate enough to attend the ceremony as well as parade at various locations through the day. Here on this page are videos and photos taken during the ceremony and parade.
