Summer Choral Festival – St. George’s Choral Society Live Performance
June 12, 2021
St. George’s Chapel
St. George’s Choral Society (SGCS) is excited to announce its annual free summer concert. For the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic, SGCS will be putting on a live performance (non-virtual) that is open to the public at no charge. SGCS will abide by all Covid-19 guidelines per the State of New York and ensure a socially distanced and safe environment.
The concert features the works of world-renowned composers in Antonín Dvořák and Claude Debussy, but also includes a seldom – and highly underrated – piece by Mexican composer Carlos Chávez, whose dynamic El Sol concludes what promises to be an eclectic and beautiful evening of live choral music.
Antonín Dvořák: Songs of Nature, sung in English (a cappella)
Claude Debussy: Salut Printemps (SSA); Invocation (TTBB), sung in French (piano accompaniment)
Carlos Chávez: El Sol, sung in Spanish (piano accompaniment)
