More than 20 sculptures will transform Rockefeller Center into a free public art park for the first-ever Frieze Sculpture at Rockefeller Center from Thursday, April 25 through Friday, June 28 in indoor and outdoor locations at Rockefeller Center, between 48th and 51st Streets and 5th and 6th Avenues, Manhattan.
Curator Brett Littman, Director of the Isamu Noguchi Foundation and Garden Museum in Long Island City, selected and placed new and significant works by 14 international and local artists for the installation, all presented by world-leading galleries. Littman designed Frieze Sculpture to work in context with the art and architecture already at Rockefeller Center, creating a massive indoor-outdoor free gallery. The public art park gives visitors the opportunity to experience, enjoy, and interact with renowned artwork free of charge, without tickets or time constraints, with the option of learning more about the works from a free audio tour that accompanies guests as they make their way through all of the sculptures on display around the Center.
Frieze Sculpture at Rockefeller Center will include works from Nick Cave, Aaron Curry, Jose Dávila, Walter De Maria, Rochelle Goldberg, Goshka Macuga, Ibrahim Mahama, Joan Miró, Paulo Nazareth, Jaume Plensa, Pedro Reyes, Kiki Smith, Sarah Sze, and Hank Willis Thomas.
In addition, throughout Frieze Sculpture at Rockefeller Center, up-and-coming restaurants and retailers will offer al fresco dining and dynamic visitor activations throughout the duration of the installation.
