What to do this Labor Day 2017 Weekend?
A big weekend’s coming up and New York City city will be bustling with folks aplenty. So what will you be doing? Don’t know?; or a little short on your list of items? Here below is just a quick list of items which you might be interested in.
Summer HD Festival at Lincoln Center will still be going on through the weekend and ending on Monday, September 4. They’ve got Tristan und Isolde slated for Thursday and Friday. Eugene Onegin for Saturday, Nabucco on Monday and La Traviata closing up the series on Monday. There’s supposedly enough seating for 3,000 with standing room all around.
The New York Caribbean Carnival Weekend will be taking place throughout the weekend with Junior Carnival Parade happening on Saturday and the NY Caribbean Carnival Parade on Monday.
The Electric Zoo Festival will be going on for three days from the first to the third of the new month at Randall’s Island Park, if that happens to be your kind of thing. As of this writing there are still tickets available at the official site.
Amidst all the Street Festivals and Fairs going on there’s as well the Hester Street Fair’s Lobster & Beer Fest on Saturday. Speaking of fairs, Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit will be happening that same day.
Over at Staten Island there’s the Richmond County Fair happening from Saturday until Monday. It’s an annual event which yours truly is looking forward to finally experiencing one day!
In Midtown we’ve got the Brazilian Day Festival for Sunday. Yours truly had traversed the event more than once in the past and boy, what a crowd! What a PASSIONATE crowd! Will be trying to make my way down there this year for some photos.
The 25th Annual Great North River Tugboat Race & Competition will be on Sunday and can be viewed from a Pier 84 off the Hudson River. You can learn more about it at this official site here…
Also, if you’ve got a thing for crazy cool art. then might I suggest a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art? I got to enjoy Rei Kawakubo’s “Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between” Exhibition. What a trip! It’s a wonderful melding of art and fashion with a neo gothic twist. Just remember, the museum entry fee is “pay what you can”.
So that does it for our Labor Day Events Quicklist. Wishing you a safe and peaceful weekend!
