50th Annual Parade
Monday, October 31, 2023
Beginning at 7:00 pm
Dear Folks, please be sure to check on the respective links for the events listed on this page for any last minute changes or cancellations.
Entering into its 50th celebration is the Annual Halloween Parade, taking place from Spring St to 16th Street along 6th Avenue. Head on down and see all the ghouls and goblins, folks and puppets, musical performances and so much more!
Below is our own full video of the parade from 2005.
It’s a huge attraction with more than 2 million spectators and tens of thousands of participants. “It’s the largest public participatory event in the greatest city in the world.”
This year’s theme: Upside/Down : Inside/OUT!!
Grand Marshal:
Laurie Anderson
and in Memory, Lou Reed
So, if you show up in a costume then you’re welcomed to join the parade. For ONLY those in costume is on 6th Avenue at between Spring Street and Broome Street. As per the official site: “”Marchers should ONLY approach 6th Ave. from the EAST or the SOUTH, coming North from Canal St. or from EAST on Sullivan or Broome.””
Mind you, the line-up begins at 6:30 pm and runs until 9:00 pm.
The parade will feature hundreds of puppets, well over 50 bands, dancers, artists and a ton of other participants in costume.
It heads north from Canal to 16th Street and 6th Avenue. So show up in your costume and be ready to walk along in front of thousands upon thousands of spectators.
The Parade is expected to last from 7:00 pm to 10:30 pm and will be telecast through Cable NY1 News from 7:30 – 9:30 pm. It takes about 2 hours or more for the parade to reach the end.
