Taking place in the five boroughs of the city
The New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks series returns this year for five outdoor performances in the Big Apple’s five boroughs. Four of which are followed by fireworks in the outdoors and the fifth and last taking place indoors at the St. George Theatre in Staten Island.
It’s one of the most highly anticipated summertime events in NYC which many folks attend with picnic baskets in hand. This year, it’s presented by Did and Oscar Schafer.
We’ve been to these a hand full of times, or so, over the years and it’s always been a thrill to see so many fellow New Yorkers gathering peacefully for these performances. Even more enjoyable, for us at least, are the ensuing pyrotechnic displays. A big fave of ours!
The Conductor and Program for all outdoor events is as follows:
Conductor: Jaap van Zweden
Program:
Copland – Fanfare for the Common Man
Beethoven – Symphony No. 5
NY Phil Very Young Composers – Works by Very Young Composers
Rossini – William Tell Overture
J. Strauss II – Die Fledermaus Overture
