The New Queens Pride Parade and Multicultural Festival is a celebration of the LGBTQ community in Queens, the most ethnically diverse urban area in the world. It was founded in 1993 by Daniel Dromm and Maritza Martinez to honor the memory of Julio Rivera, who was killed for being gay in Jackson Heights. The parade is the second oldest and second largest pride parade in New York City, and it takes place annually on the first Sunday in June on 37th Avenue.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Queens Pride, and it will be held on Sunday, June 4th, 2023 from 12:00PM – 6:00PM on 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights. The parade and festival will feature floats, performances, community groups, and more. The honorary grand marshals for this year are Linda Lee, Lynn Schulman, Selvena N. Brooks-Powers, Shekar Krishnan, Drag Story Hour, CUNY LGBTQIA+ Consortium, and Ceyenne Doroshow. They represent the great leadership, advocacy and diversity of the world’s borough.
