The following is an old press release from a previous year:

Liberty View Ice Rink and Brookfield Properties today announced that the Rink at Brookfield Place will open for the winter season in November at the foot of the winter Garden in Battery Park city.

The upcoming rink will be centrally located in Battery Park City on the upper plaza between the Winter Garden and the North Cove Marina, with views of Lower Manhattan.

With a skating surface that stretches 105 feet long and 70 feet wide – or 7,350 square feet – The Rink at Brookfield Place is larger than the Rockefeller Center Rink and can accommodate up to 250 people at a time.

“Nothing can compare to skating outdoors with Lower Manhattan and the Hudson River as your backdrop,” said General manager Rob Miller. “We are proud to launch The Rink at Brookfield Place to the neighborhood in time for the holiday season, complete with fun and exciting family activities. This is a great opportunity to bring the residents, businesses and visitors of Downtown NY all together as a community.”

Over the last 12 years, Lower Manhattan’s residential population has more than doubled to more than 60,000 people, and its workforce steadily rebounded, increasing the desire for enhanced recreational activities for adults, families and children.

Liberty View is committed to providing the residents of Battery Park City with a first class experience and will coordinate community outreach and programming through partnerships with Manhattan Youth and CUNY among others. Family season passes will be available through these outlets as well as at the box office in the Winter Garden.

“Outdoor ice Skating is the quintessential New York City experience and the Rink at Brookfield Place will become part of the fabric of downtown this winter,” said Brookfield’s David Cheikin.  “We are continuously looking for ways to further activate and enliven the public spaces at our properties for all those that live, work and visit downtown.

“We knew the community would support an ice skating rink at Wagner Park last year, and its success exceeded our expectations,” said Battery Park Authority Chairman Dennis Mehiel.  “We are very pleased that less than a year later, in partnership with Brookfield Place, the rink will relocate to a more central location which will afford more people of all ages and levels of skill, the opportunity to enjoy the fun of skating.”

The Rink at Brookfield Place will be open every day from 10AM to 10 PM from mid-November to mid-March.  The Rink will offer skate rentals and skate sharpening, and expected to host events, skating and hockey classes, and other activities.  Rates will include $15 per session, $5 for skate rentals and $15 for skate sharpening.

Additionally, adjacent eatery P.J Clarke’s will be the Rink’s official entertainment partner for holiday and social events, and brings the best in hospitality to the project.

Further Details, including programming, will be announced in the coming weeks.  Visit the website at www.therinkatbrookfieldplacenyc.com later this month for more  information, or call 646-656-1384 for private event information.
